I wrote “Firewall” to express my passionate, undying love for the Internet. Senate and Congress were debating bills (Protect IP Act + Stop Online Piracy Act) that would allow federal law enforcement to seek court orders compelling ISPs and search engines to filter domain names and block websites merely accused of copyright infringement. This would force websites to censor their users.

First, SOPA’s opponents tried a visual petition and the catchy slogan “Don’t break the Internet.” Now they’re bringing out the big guns: Viral videos, “Obama Girl’s” songwriter, and a holiday weekend boycott of films by SOPA (Stop Online Piracy) supporters.
